The keys are folded into boxes and slipped into the cut out squares from the reverse side.

On the reverse side of the parting plane the tabs of the keys are hot glued to the surface of the parting plane.

Two coats of shellac are applied to both sides of the parting plane. We make certain that the shellac also is applied to the inside of the keys.

In Figure 18., we see the reverse side of the parting plane complete with two coats of shellac as it is being re-fitted to the model.

Clay is applied to the reverse side of the parting plane to hold the parting plane in place. In addition hot glue is also applied where the cardboard base meets the parting plane.

The model is turned toward the front where the first coat of latex is brushed on. The latex will also be brushed onto the parting plane as well as the cardboard base.

Care must be taken to coat the gap between the parting plane and the model as in Figure 21.
